Life takes a jibe - message from John Price

15 Apr by Ellenby, Peter

Dear sailors, salties and John across the road,

I’m writing to say thank you for all your kindness, assistance and companionship.

It’s terrific to be a part of such a great group.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of “Man Flu” a grossly underrated affliction to the women in our lives.

Well I got sick of being puffed out walking down the hill in Portarlington, escorting Mirella to work on Friday. So I booked a 12:00 appointment at the GP.

He sent me for blood tests and chest xray. Surprisingly, he rang me Friday evening and said go to Geelong hospital and get a CT scan tonight. Did that, but you have stay overnight.

4:00 am Saturday morning I’m awoken by a calm, well-spoken man telling me I have a 17cm mass in middle of my chest.

Life changed. I’m still in hospital but will probably leave on Friday, having had my first of many chemotherapy sessions.

Outlook looks good, but I probably won’t be around for a while.

Thanks for everything.
Cheers

PS Man Flu is not to be underrated. I rinse my mouth in salt water everyday to keep my sailing in mind. Don’t put it off – Do it Now!
