A shorebird adventure is being held on Saturday 19 July from 1:00 pm, starting at Wrathall Park.
To quote the Bellarine Catchment Network website ….
“A fun family nature quest travelling by bike along the Bellarine Coastal Trail in search of shorebirds. A treasure hunt list and binoculars will be provided to each group. Your challenge is to search for and identify as many different species of birds as possible. We’ll explore a 5Km section of the trail stopping at places where birds like to hang out. Not into cycling? No worries, a walking option is also available. Ready, set, birdwatch! Afterwards enjoy a picnic or BBQ, explore the playground or visit the Batman memorial nearby”.
This event is hosted by Friends of the Red-capped Plover North Bellarine (FoRCP) & Bellarine Bicycle Users Group (BBUG) with support from Bellarine Bayside and BirdLife Australia.
Here’s a suggestion – spend the morning at IHYC joining the Working Bee, then at 12:45, walk 400 metres toward St Leonards to join the Shorebird Search. What a day!
